To Youth a Reminder
"Young Warriors"/ Private Collection
Take then, the stinging noOf life's cruel excessKnead your thoughts warmly soInto a softly smiling yesTake the rhyme, the metaphorLive facing the skySpeak the words that crack the doorTo every mystery, every whyEmbrace the night of things unshownSpeak strong your truth todayDo not die with all you ownTucked, still, deeply awayPaint the canvas of your pleasureSing your brilliant love songJump the edge without measureEach moment, live life longSpeak strong your truth todayDo not die with your life tucked:Still. Deeply. Away.copyright 2009, Georgette JonesNote: After viewing the dark, brutally honest yet mesmerizing movie, "Precious" yesterday, I was compelled to post this painting from four years ago, along with the poem that relates to it. As is usually the case, the poem and painting were not created simultaneously. Instead, their similarity match the subject matter and themes of my artistic thoughts.

Oh my goodness! I did see previews of the movie and I must say, I was deeply disturbed just by the preview! It is because of people like Precious that I do what I do. I want to continue lifting up humanity out of the depravity of life. Great poem! I see that you were touched in the spirit.

Although I wrote the poem some time ago, today I thought it could have been a message for someone like Precious. The movie was so intense that I was still riveted to my seat long after the credits rolled. It was very haunting. May God continue to bless you in the work that you do.
Your poetry has such power! Great poem!
Dori,
Thank you so much. It's good to hear from you. Hope you enjoyed your trip home.
Powerful piece. The message rings loud and clear.
Thank you, Don. It feels good when others listen to the message and hear it. Please visit again.
